Tanya Burch | Clinical Director - M. Coun., LPC
Tanya Burch is Licensed Professional Counselor. She has worked in the Behavioral Health field for over 20 years in a variety of settings including schools, residential treatment and outpatient settings. In the scope of her practice, she addresses addictions, trauma and other mental health issues. Tanya is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization, and Reprocessing), the leading therapy used for treatment of PTSD. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Relapse Prevention Therapy and Motivational Interviewing with her clients. Tanya works with individuals as well as couples. Being part of the healing process of her clients is what makes her job the best one in the world.
Chad Willis | Primary Therapist - LPC
After a 20-plus year career with the City of Mesa's Animal Control Unit, Chad turned his attention to behavioral health. After earning his Master's Degree in Counseling, Chad work in the crisis, detox, and psychiatric units at CBI. Chad has extensive experience in individual and group counseling in both inpatient and outpatient facilities. Chad is trained in EMDR therapy and trauma counseling and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention therapy in his daily practice.
Chad is an active member of his community, church, and enjoys spending his free time with his grandchildren.
Bobby Jo Appleton, MS | Primary Therapist - LAC
Bobby Jo has been in the behavioral health field for well over a decade. She has two masters' degrees from Grand Canyon University: Masters in Mental Health & Addiction Counseling. Bobby Jo passion remains solely focused on working with individuals as the build their foundation in recovery.
Bobby Jo has a daughter who is very active in gymnastics. When not at a meet with her daughter, Bobby Jo loves to spend time with family and friends or in the garden.
Dr. J Carvel Jackson, DO | Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Jackson earned his Doctorate at Western University of Health Sciences before completing his residency at Stanford University School of Medicine in 1989. Dr. Jackson has been providing medical services in the Valley of the Sun since leaving Stanford and has dedicated his practice to working with those dependent on Opioids & other addictive drugs. Including Addiction, Dr. Jackson specializes in Pain Management and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Associations: American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Rachel Buettner | Director of Operations:
Rachel has a Bachelor's and Masters Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University and the University of Phoenix, respectively. Prior to joining Choice Recovery, Rachel earned over a decade of experience in the behavioral health industry as a transition counselor, clinician, and operations manager. Her approach to substance use disorder treatment follows the Choice Recovery model of treating the person rather than simply the disease.
Rachel is active in the community, loves dogs, helping others, and Nebraska Cornhusker football!
Ashley Vanderwerff | Life Coach:
Ashley graduated from Saddleback College with an Associate's degree in Liberal Studies and Sociology. Her passion to help others struggling with addiction comes from her lived experiences with substance use and recovery. Ashley believes recovery can save lives, heal broken relationships and help to develop a life purpose; she believes these things because they are what recovery has done for her.
Ashley has two beautiful children who provide her with more than simply joy, but a reason to become a better mother, daughter, and person.
Will Thorpe | Life Coach:
Will entered the recovery industry in Prescott, Arizona as a behavioral health technician in a detox unit. Prior to moving to Arizona, Will worked in the oil and gas industry in Pennsylvania. Will made the transition into the recovery world following his own journey in recovery. His passion for helping others is inspired by the gifts that being clean and sober has provided him.
Will is blessed with a young son and an active life-style that focuses on anything outdoors.
Toni Hoskins | Life Coach:
Toni works closely with Choice Recovery's Telehealth clients. Her mission is to help them build their foundation in recovery and find their life purpose via online therapy. Through creativity, discipline, and a passion for all things recovery, she encourages clients to fully commit to living a life that they love. Toni has extensive experience working in the recovery community where her focus has been on assisting recovering addicts find housing, employment, and happiness.
Toni is an Arizona native and has two beautiful middle-school aged boys who receive her undivided attention and unconditional love.
James Donley | President & COO:
James is an entrepreneur with business experience in a number of fields including accounting, luxury travel, financial turn-around & restructuring, banking, real estate development, contracting & home services, sales & marketing, and private equity. His desire to enter the behavioral health industry started with his own recovery which spans over 16-years. Read James's Manifesto
Sharon Brack | Genetic Nutritionist - HHC, AADP
Sharon is a Genetic Nutritionist, who works with clients to identify those foods and supplements/vitamins that work most efficiently with their genetic coding. She is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor, and supplement expert who has dedicated her life to personal care.
Since 2009, Sharon has worked with a diverse set of clients formulating personal plans to maximize their own health and wellness. In addition to her private practice (I Know Me), Sharon was Director of Genetic Nutrition for a lifestyle genetic testing company. This experience pushed Sharon to develop an integrative approach to nutrition that designs eating plans specific to an individual’s genome. Through testing, Sharon can develop health plans that improve your daily output (energy & health) through strategic inputs (food). Working with Sharon simplifies the complexities of dieting and nutritional health. Her tailor-made nutritional plans ensure clients eat those foods that are right for them, not only those foods considered “health”.
At Choice Recovery, Sharon educates clients on the benefits of nutrition in recovery, smart snacking, and overall health & wellness even when time and money seem like a limitation.
