Tanya Burch | Clinical Director - M. Coun., LPC
Tanya Burch is Licensed Professional Counselor. She has worked in the Behavioral Health field for over 20 years in a variety of settings including schools, residential treatment and outpatient settings. In the scope of her practice, she addresses addictions, trauma and other mental health issues. Tanya is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization, and Reprocessing), the leading therapy used for treatment of PTSD. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Relapse Prevention Therapy and Motivational Interviewing with her clients. Tanya works with individuals as well as couples. Being part of the healing process of her clients is what makes her job the best one in the world.
Becky Lutz | Client Support Manager
Prior to joining the Choice Team, Becky spent many years with Community Bridges ("CBI") as a peer support specialist and behavioral health technician. At CBI's Human Services Campus, her role involved crisis and case management as well as leading the centers State Opioid Response Team. Becky also participated in the writing of CBI's Medication Assisted Treatment curriculum from a peer's perspective.
Becky stays active in the community as Co-Chair for the Arizona AIDS walk for the Aunt Rita's Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors for Southwest Centers for HIV, and a volunteer at Ignite in outreach, education and testing.
Dr. J Carvel Jackson, DO | Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Jackson earned his Doctorate at Western University of Health Sciences before completing his residency at Stanford University School of Medicine in 1989. Dr. Jackson has been providing medical services in the Valley of the Sun since leaving Stanford and has dedicated his practice to working with those dependent on Opioids & other addictive drugs. Including Addiction, Dr. Jackson specializes in Pain Management and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Associations: American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Alexa Morgenroth | Director of Program Operations:
Alexa graduated from Columbia University with a masters degree in Developmental Psychology. She has worked in the behavioral health field for over ten years in a variety of positions including Counseling, Quality Management and Program Development. Alexa coordinated state run initiatives at the Arizona Governors office of Youth Faith and Family including the Arizona Angel Initiative.
In addition to coordinating programs, Alexa continues to work as a life coach helping families and clients navigate the path to recovery and emotional success.
James Donley | President & COO:
James is an entrepreneur with business experience in a number of fields including accounting, luxury travel, financial turn-around & restructuring, banking, real estate development, contracting & home services, sales & marketing, and private equity. His desire to enter the behavioral health industry started with his own recovery which spans over 14-years. Read James's Manifesto
Patrick Varney | Therapist - LASAC
Patrick’s career in the behavioral health industry began in 1997 at Foundations Sober Living Homes in San Diego, California which he owned. Since that time, he has earned his Associates Degree in Applied Sciences – Chemical Dependency, a Bachelor of Psychology, and a Master’s in Addiction Counseling. He is currently pursuing a second master’s degree in Professional Counseling (May 2020).
In 2008, Patrick moved to Arizona and began his career on the clinical side of addiction treatment. Patrick has worked in residential and outpatient treatment facilities across the valley including, but not limited to Behavioral Health Services, Lifewell, Ascend, Buena Vista, and Valley Hope.
Using his personal and professional experiences, Patrick leads clients through the concepts of learned helplessness, relapse prevention, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other key evidence-based modalities.
Sharon Brack | Genetic Nutritionist - HHC, AADP
Sharon is a Genetic Nutritionist, who works with clients to identify those foods and supplements/vitamins that work most efficiently with their genetic coding. She is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor, and supplement expert who has dedicated her life to personal care.
Since 2009, Sharon has worked with a diverse set of clients formulating personal plans to maximize their own health and wellness. In addition to her private practice (I Know Me), Sharon was Director of Genetic Nutrition for a lifestyle genetic testing company. This experience pushed Sharon to develop an integrative approach to nutrition that designs eating plans specific to an individual’s genome. Through testing, Sharon can develop health plans that improve your daily output (energy & health) through strategic inputs (food). Working with Sharon simplifies the complexities of dieting and nutritional health. Her tailor-made nutritional plans ensure clients eat those foods that are right for them, not only those foods considered “health”.
At Choice Recovery, Sharon educates clients on the benefits of nutrition in recovery, smart snacking, and overall health & wellness even when time and money seem like a limitation.

Michael Zweifel | Advisor
Currently, Mike is owner and operator of Archways Recovery Centers, a 54-bed sober living company and National Director of Marketing for Heather Hayes & Associates, a world-renown firm specializing in intervention, addiction treatment, and crisis management.
Archways operates five structured living homes in Mesa and Gilbert, Arizona that house 54 men and women active in addiction recovery (4 male and 1 female homes).
As National Director of Marketing for Heather Hayes & Assoc., Mike works with counselors and treatment facilities across the country in the develop of case management, intervention, treatment consultation, sober transports, crisis management, recovery coaches and other services offered by the firm. Heather Hayes & Associates is located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Prior to Archways and Heather Hayes & Associates, Mike began his career in the behavioral health industry at Journey Healing Centers as intake coordinator. Mike’s business career started at BRE Properties where he managed the leasing, marketing and the sales staff for a 650 unit apartment complex.
Mike is active in the recovery community and a member of the Therapeutic Consultant Association as well as pursuing his Master’s in Social Work from Northern Arizona University.
